Başak Okay Tekir,

Hello, I’m Başak Okay, a designer based in Istanbul.

​

I studied Industrial Design at Yeditepe University and later completed my master’s degree in Design Innovation at the Glasgow School of Art. Although I initially dreamed of becoming a car designer, my journey gradually led me towards lighting, products, and visual identity.

​

For nearly a decade, I worked at Planlux Lighting Design, developing lighting concepts for hotels, retail spaces, offices, shopping malls, and sports facilities. My passion for lighting design was recognised with the LIT Lighting Design Awards for my Cuplight project.

​

Over the years, my practice expanded beyond product and lighting design to include logo and visual identity projects. Studio Okay! is the independent design practice of Başak Okay, evolving from Basako Okay Concept Design and bringing these disciplines together under one identity.

​

Today, Studio Okay! reflects my multidisciplinary approach, where product, lighting and brand identity come together to create thoughtful and timeless design solutions.

​

Alongside my design practice, I teach Project and Lighting Fixture Design courses at Haliç University, guiding students through the design process and helping them develop their ideas.
